SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou, the sister event of SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, Germany, will host its 2016 edition from 8 – 10 March. The fair will return to the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou so leading domestic and overseas suppliers can showcase the latest automation technologies. Covered at the show will be a wide variety of robotics, machine vision products, sensors and measurement tools, connectivity systems, drive systems and control technologies. The event offers the most up-to-date solutions for China’s fast-growing manufacturing market.
Commenting on the Guangzhou fair’s goals for 2016, Mr Louis Leung, Deputy General Manager at Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, said: “The fair has been growing consistently over the years, and the 2015 edition saw its strongest global exhibitor and visitor participation to date. For 2016, we expect to attract over 500 exhibitors and more than 43,000 professional visitors to conduct trade in 40,000 sqm of exhibition space. To date, over 350 influential brands have already confirmed their participation in the upcoming show. Leading industry brands include Autonics, Baumer, Beckhoff, Cognex, Contrinex, Denso, Epson, Estun, EtherCAT, Hanyoung Nux, Harting, ifm, Lafert, LTi, Mecano, Pepperl+Fuchs, Sanyo Denki, SMC, Wago, Yaskawa and many others.
Evolving closely with the industry’s latest trends, the show offers a unique platform for industrial automation professionals to enter China’s sophisticated manufacturing market. Occupying four halls, the fair will dedicate Hall 2.2 to Robotics and Machine Vision. Hall 3.2 and 4.2 will contain IPCs, industrial and communication software, automated production and processing solutions, as well as electrical and mechanical systems. Finally, Hall 5.2 will be for sensor and measurement technologies that will be promoted by prominent industry leaders.
Furthermore, concurrent events will be another focal point at the fair. They serve as an effective way to introduce the latest trends and applications within the automation industry, while providing insights into future industry trends. “Industry 4.0” will be the theme of the two-day programme, covering industrial communications, drive systems, robotics, and sensors and measurement technologies, which are crucial elements in smart manufacturing. The 2016 edition plans to once again bring together a number of influential speakers from China and abroad to share the latest industry intelligence.
Automation products continue to see strong demand in China
The current generation has demonstrated a decline in the number of individuals willing to join the manufacturing workforce as well as an increase in labour costs. In China, the Industry 4.0 trend represents the latest movement towards a manufacturing industry upgrade. The Government Work Report 2015 calls for the implementation of the “Made in China 2025” strategy which is equivalent to China’s Industry 4.0 trend, and pushes for greener and more intelligent manufacturing.
Supported by the Chinese government, the development of intelligent robotics and manufacturing equipment is expected to be a driving force behind China’s manufacturing industry. Based on the country’s Three-year Action Plan on the Implementation of Restructuring and Upgrading of Industries of Guangdong Province, the People’s Government of Guangdong Province plans to invest over USD 154 billion to transform the region’s manufacturing industry. Additionally, the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) predicts industrial robot installations in China will raise from 20,000 in 2014 to 40,000 by 2017.
China’s machine vision industry is another promising sector and is currently focused on targeted industries, such as electronics, semiconductors, drug testing and packaging, colour printing detections and many others. With the “Made in China 2025” strategy, the country is slowly entering Industry 4.0. Technological advancements in the machine vision sector will continue to increase and become a crucial investment vehicle for the nation’s manufacturing industry.
