MUSCAT – Oman hosts the eighth annual meeting of Gas Arabia Summit that will be held at Intercontinental Hotel, Muscat, from December 2 to 5, 2012. The summit is organised by The Energy Exchange and co-hosted by Oman Gas Company (OGC), Oman LNG, BP and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). About 200 experts from the Sultanate and different 15 countries, from around the world, will participate in the summit in addition to some senior officials from international companies working in the oil and gas sector.
The conference, which is under the auspices of Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, will discuss many worksheets about the reality and future of gas industry in the Sultanate and all over the world, the challenges facing gas and oil industry and many other topics.

We would like to invite gas professionals from the region and beyond to join us for four days of interaction, learning and debates in the splendid city of Muscat. We feel this is a crucial time for the regional gas industry to gather and discuss about the future of the market and to disclose technical and strategic challenges of new explorations and projects,” Yousuf al Ojaili, CEO of OGC and Chairman of the steering Committee said.
Under the theme of “Unconventional Gas Day”, BP will host an introductory day today, December 2. The day will discuss many worksheets about gas forecasts and technology, the replication of Shale gas revolution outside of North America, the environmental implications of unconventional gas and operationalising the unconventional resources. The first day will witness a number of discussions; the first is about gas challenges and security in the Middle East.
The second is about the regional and global prospective; market and business rational behind the liquefied natural gas. The third worksheet will discuss increasing in-country value; gas as a driver for industrial development and investment. The second day will discuss two main worksheets; “The Golden Era of Gas — Between Dream and Reality”, “The Quest for Gas: Unconventional Resources at a Glance”, and ‘Exploiting Gas Resources: Pushing the Envelope”.
The conference concludes with a workshop on Wednesday, December 5 under the theme of “Gas Flaring Reduction”, which will discuss the latest technologies and methods of reducing gas flaring.
