The main showcase for Spanish Fashion, organised by Ifema, will be holding its 63rd edition from 19 to 23 February at Feria de Madrid
Madrid, 2 December 2015.- The designers Jorge Vázquez and ManéMané, two of the essential names of the current panorama of Spanish fashion, will be on the general programme of the 63rd edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFWM), which will be organised by Ifema from 19 to 23 February at Feria de Madrid.
With their presence at MBFWM, both creators will form part of the already considerable group of Spanish designers who each season present their collections at this show, and will contribute to enhancing this platform's leadership as the great showcase of Spanish fashion in the world and one of the large events of the universe of fashion and international design.
Jorge Vázquez and ManéMané's entry in the MBFWM is also a further sign of the permanent and decisive support that this show, organised by IFEMA, has for more than thirty years offered the universe of Spanish fashion as a whole, which gradually brings the most important Spanish designers of each time into its programme.
Already participants in the show years ago
Both Jorge Vázquez and ManéMané already took part in the Madrid show years ago. Jorge Vázquez presented his collections on the show's general programme between September 2002 and February 2006, and ManéMané took part in the Samsung EGO platform of young creators in February and September 2013.
Jorge Vázquez has had a long and complete professional career which he started at just 18 in the Inditex group. The designer from Galicia was later on the teams of different Spanish creators like Antonio Pernas and Angel Schlesser before he launched his own brand in February 2002. His Spring-Summer 2005 collection presented at the show that was then called the Pasarela Cibeles, received the L’Orèal prize for the best collection. In February 2006 the designer expanded his fashion project with the new JV por Jorge Vázquez brand, and in the same year he worked with Loewe in designing its Women's Prêt-à-Porter. In addition to his own Prêt-à-Porter, Cocktail, Bridal, Haute Couture and Communion firm, today he works with other firms of the sector.
Miguel Becer is the creative manager of ManéMané, a firm that appeared as a choral project in order to create a personal and original ideal of beauty. The young creator from Caceres very soon revealed his artistic concerns and started to study piano at just 7 years of age. He later studied Economics at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid and at the same time started to train in fashion at the Escuela de Arte nº 2 of design, where he graduated as a finalist of the Aurelio Blanco Scholarship of the Community of Madrid. After working with important Spanish creators like Amaya Arzuaga and Juan Vidal, he formed part of the team of Ángel Schlesser and Bimba y Lola. This year, 2015, with just six collections behind it, ManéMané took away the Who´s On Next award for the best young designer of the year
organised by VOGUE and sponsored by Inditex. Becer currently combines the management of ManéMané with different publishing works and teaches stylism at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
More than 300 creators on show
Since it started up in February 1985, the MBFWM has hosted the parades of nearly 300 Spanish creators. Many of them began their careers while the event was still in its early days, and nowadays they are important names on the Spanish fashion scene. Other younger designers have become involved over the years, bringing their talent and new perspectives on fashion design with them, parading the essence of modernity and contemporary elegance with their creative discourses.
Important sponsors already confirmed
The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid is a key event in the fashion and creative world, and is therefore a constant focus for major brands wishing to associate themselves with fashion and new trends.
The forthcoming edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid will therefore once more receive the important support of sponsor brands. Mercedes-Benz, L’Orèal and Inditex have already confirmed that they will attend as the main sponsors; Samsung, Solán de Cabras, Movistar and Bombay Sapphire as sponsors; and Swarovski, Kaiku Caffé Latte, Rowenta and Oral-B, as collaborators. These come along with other brands such as Lord Wilmore and Elephant&Castle, which will also be supporting this platform's next event.
