SINGAPORE - The December edition of Pedestrian Night on Orchard Road presented a one-time opportunity for visitors to Orchard Road to walk right under the annual amazing Christmas lights along the Great Street. This year's Christmas on A Great Street saw Orchard Road transformed into a magical world of kaleidoscopic displays with glistening Christmas bells and baubles. The creative concept is produced by Singapore artiste Dick Lee and renowned designer Yang De Rong.
The unique opportunity for pedestrians to marvel the Christmas lights while enjoying a whole host of Christmas-themed activities such as festive performances, larger than life games and great giveaways, took place on 5 December. The Pedestrian Night initiative is organised by Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) and supported by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and takes place every first Saturday of the month. The event sees Orchard Road closed to vehicular access and opened to pedestrians who enjoy walking on the Great Street itself. In addition to special street-level programming, the buzz along the iconic shopping belt extends to shopping malls along Orchard Road as they organise various special promotions and activities during Pedestrian Night.
Those who missed the opportunity to stroll right under the magical Christmas lights can still enjoy the visual feast on Orchard Road until 3 January 2016.
The monthly Pedestrian Night on Orchard Road is currently ongoing until February 2016.
