KUNSHAN, China, December 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- World Cyber Games 2012 Grand Final came to an end with a big success on Dec. 2nd in Kunshan, China. This is WCG's 12th Grand Final and again proved to be the world's largest computer and video game festival.
A total of 110,000 spectators and about 400 journalists from all over the world came over to Kunshan to watch the world top 500 players from 40 countries. Moreover, 85 million people watched the live streaming of WCG tournaments and China's major broadcasting station CCTV (China Central Television), Xinhua News and many of local TV and news stations gave major coverage to the WCG 2012 Grand Final. In addition, many high officials of Chinese government visited the venue and showed their interest in WCG and eSports.
Most of the Semi-Finals, 3rd-4th place matches and Final matches were held on Dec. 2nd and 40,000 spectators were congregated to fill 24,000 square meters of the halls with their acclamation and cheers. In particular, the 3rd-4th place match of Warcraft III between Moon (Jang, Jae Ho, Korea) and Sky (Li, Xio Feng, China) gave the spectacular scenery of 12,000 square meter hall fully packed with spectators. After 4 days of competitive tournament, Team China ranked 1st place with 3 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze medals, followed by Team Korea and Team Germany.
At 6:20pm on Dec. 2nd, the Closing Ceremony began with the big carnival after the closing match of Warcraft III between Steelseries.Fly100% (China) and TED (China) with over two thousands of spectators before the main stage. Ms. Hang Ying, Chief of the Publicity Department of CPC Kunshan and Standing Committee Member of COC Kunshan Municipal Committee gave the closing speech, and awards ceremony was followed after. When all the winners and players stood up on the stage, the Chinese version of WCG theme song -- 'Beyond the game' was played by a Chinese band, which led to the end of the WCG 2012 Grand Final, and the promise to reunite again at the WCG 2013 Grand Final in Kunshan, China.
The WCG 2013 Grand Final will take place in Kunshan International Convention & Exhibition Center in Kunshan, China again from Nov. 28th to Dec. 1st, 2013.
