2016 Tour de Taiwan is a Top event of the UCI Asia Tour which will be held from March 6th to 10th. There will be 24 teams from all over the world that included 4 Pro Continental teams, around 30 nationalities and in total 192 outstanding athletes to compete in this event. Teams from European and American have fought hard to get into the team list of Tour de Taiwan 2016, and there is 11 European and American teams in total got the chance to be part of this race. This year the Organizer Committee has increased the routes' intensity and completely to make sure it's more spectacular than ever.
Taiwan is going to send out Mr. Wu, Po Hung to lead these young and full of potential riders as the Chinese Taipei National Team to gain a great result in this race.
After the tremendous hard work and effort of the Chinese Taipei Cycling Association, and associated with the central and local governments, now we are going to presenting you the Tour de Taiwan 2016 with 5 stages. They are the Taipei City stage, New Taipei City stage, Taoyuan City stage, Nantou County and Terrific Taiwan stage. Meanwhile, in order to meet the full criteria to be upgraded to UCI 2.HC class, the quality of entire race has great improvement, including strength of the teams, difficulty of the routes, traffic control organizing, accommodation for teams, and the total prize money of the race has risen up to the top event prize money level.
The route of 2016 Tour de Taiwan will start from Taipei City, and toward to the south on the west part of Taiwan. The Taipei City stage race will be an 8 laps circuit race, 10.4 km each lap and the total distance of this stage is 83.2km.
New Taipei City stage will start from scenic spot at the western tip of Taiwan, Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, and toward to the famous KOM - Masu River then finished at Baisha Bay Visitor Center after pass through 2 challenging KOM. The total distance of this stage is approximate 140.8km.
The route of Taoyuan City Stage will have an overview with 70 kilometers long distance race on the No.61 Expressway, and total distance will be around 137.55km. Nantou County stage is the only stage which represents the middle part of Taiwan, the route mainly is in the mountain area. It will pass through the popular spot Jiji Township, Shuili Snake Kiln and Puli Brewery and then finish with 1 lap circuit at the Xiangshan Vistor Center. The total distance of this stage has been planned around 166km.
The last stage is Terrific Taiwan stage which starts from Siraya Scenic Area then pass through 4 KOMs and it will finish at the Maolin Scenic Area of Wutai Township. This route is rated as the most challenging mountain route with the continuing 25 kilometers climbing route. This will be the battlefield for climbers to win their trophy. The route's total distance of this stage is 147.5km and it will allow climbers to proof all they've got here to win the last stage. The overall distance of 2016 Tour de Taiwan will be around 1,100 km.
The Children Push Bike Competition is the favorite event for parents in the Bike Festival of Tour de Taiwan. This year, the organizer increases the number of participants up to 300 kids, and the Organizer will provide a 「Kid's version of Chinese Taipei National Team Jersey」 to each kid who is part of the event. We sincerely welcome all of you to come and cheer for these International riders and the potential National riders.
Taiwan is a bicycle kingdom and the world's most indicative Taipei International Cycle Show will be held from March 2nd to 5th in the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Hall. Through the combination of static exhibition and dynamic Tour de Taiwan race, Taiwan cycling sport and related industries will be promoted to a new top level of the world.
Combining all the personals' support from industries, officials and academic communities such as Hitachi Air Conditioning, National Credit Card Center of R.O.C. and Taiwan Excellence; the Organizer expects to build the Tour de Taiwan 2016 as the excellent world-class race in Taiwan. Therefore, an international sports channel will broadcast the daily race highlights worldwide after each race.
