Over the years, additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies have been developing worldwide and particularly in China. Due to growing demand for higher precision technologies coupled with tighter R&D budgets and lead times, the value of 3D printing technologies has never been greater. Acknowledging the potential for industry growth, Messe Frankfurt has officially announced it will transform 3D Printing Asia, previously a highlighted zone at Asiamold, into an exhibition of its own in 2016.
Commenting on the new fair, Mr Louis Leung, Deputy General Manager at Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, said: “The decision to turn the 3D Printing Asia Zone into a fair was prompted by its growing success. Since the zone’s establishment in 2013, it has expanded significantly in terms of exhibitor participation numbers and exhibition space. In 2015, it welcomed more than 60 domestic and international brands, a 25% increase from previous editions. Covering rapid prototyping, CAD/CAM software development, 3D laser engraving and a wide selection of 3D printers, the inaugural fair will be held concurrently with Asiamold 2016. Both events will run from 20 – 22 September at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. The inaugural fair is estimated to attract 100 exhibitors and more than 10,000 professional visitors, and cover 8,000 sqm of exhibition space.”
Within the first two months the show was made available for reservations, a number of prominent exhibitors confirmed to join, including DSM Desotech Specialty Chemical, Guangdong Hanbang 3D Technology, Runice Power Transmission, Shanghai Union 3D Technology, Shanghai Ureal Technology, Shenzhen Soongon Technology, Z Rapid Technologies and many others.
Exhibitors planning to participate in the inaugural fair will be strategically categorised to facilitate sourcing and visitor flow. Manufacturers of industrial-grade 3D printers will be located near mould makers from Asiamold to optimise the synergies between these sectors. Meanwhile, personal 3D printer manufacturers and suppliers will be placed next to 3D printing material and component manufacturers given the two sectors complement each other. These new arrangements will not only help buyers to better meet their sourcing needs, but they will also help exhibitors to establish cross-sector partnerships.
In addition to the exhibition, a comprehensive collection of fringe events will be hosted to help raise awareness of the benefits 3D printing offers. Highlighted topics for 2016 include 3D metal printing for the automotive and aerospace industries, metal printing materials and compounds, applications and development of 3D printing technologies in both the education and medial sectors, and many others.
China continues to see strong demand for 3D printing technologies and related products
Known for its versatility, 3D printing technology can be used in a range of industrial applications and has become a mainstream tool for production in many industries. According to a Wohlers Associates’ report, the global sales of 3D printers experienced an average annual growth rate of 33.8% over the past three years. By 2020, the global 3D printing market is expected to be worth USD 21.2 billion.
Currently, 3D printing is regarded as one of the most important and fastest growing manufacturing industries in China. Backed by the government, it is projected that the market size for the sector in China will grow at an average rate of approximately 40% and exceed USD 3.1 billion by 2018, according to a Research and Markets’ report. 3D Printing Asia will help exhibitors capitalise on ample business opportunities in China’s automotive, education and medical sectors.
3D Printing Asia is organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with formnext. formnext organised by Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH is a professional trade fair for tool making, design, product development and additive manufacturing technologies. The next edition of formnext will be held from 15 – 18 November 2016 at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds.
