Debute edition of Smart Industry Solution Shanghai exhibition officially announced
Starting in 2016, Smart Industry Solution Shanghai (SISS) will be added under the umbrella of SPS IPC Drives events worldwide. Propelled by the growing popularity of Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing trends, particularly in China, are quickly gaining steam. SISS aims to guide industry professionals into the future of manufacturing where streamlined and interactive production will encourage competition in the global marketplace. To be held from 28 – 30 June 2016 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center, the fair is jointly organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and Shanghai Pudong International Exhibition Corp.
Commenting on the new fair, Prof Dr-Ing Mario Pacas from University of Siegen, expressed: “The Internet of Things (IoT) has drastically impacted many people’s lives and there is no exception for the manufacturing industry. China’s shift to smart manufacturing generates ample opportunities for automation technology suppliers
In May 2015, China announced its “Made in China 2025” plan, the country’s equivalent strategy to Europe’s Industry 4.0. This is one of China’s largest initiatives to quicken its shift from labour-intensive manufacturing to more intelligent processes. The move is critical to maintaining and improving global manufacturing competitiveness as well as to sustaining overall economic growth. With a decline in the number of people willing to join the industrial workforce and an increase in labour costs, China is steering away from traditional production methods for more sophisticated, high-value manufacturing.
Creativity, quality, digitisation and green development are the guiding principles of the “Made in China 2025” plan. To help upgrade the manufacturing industry, the plan highlights 10 priority sectors: information technology, numerical control tools and robotics, aerospace and aeronautical equipment, maritime engineering equipment and high-tech shipping, railway equipment, new-energy vehicles, power equipment, new materials, biopharmaceuticals and medical devices, and agricultural machinery. To further drive this manufacturing transformation, the Chinese government will set aside USD 6.38 billion to support emerging industries and create a private equity market for small and medium-sized enterprises.
