Special day for the future of the industry
This year's GastroNord is focusing on restaurant students by giving them their own day - Friday, April 29. On this day, students will be able to meet representatives from the entire industry and the Student Chef of the Year will be announced. A student restaurant, Grow, is also being built at the fair, which will be run entirely by students, and the Junior National Culinary Team, of which several members are Sweden's leading young chefs and confectioners, will have a pop-up restaurant, Respect, at GastroNord for the first time.
Svenska Bocuse d´Or star fine-tunes his preparations
At the exhibition, Alexander Sjögren, Sweden's candidate for Bocuse d’Or, will practice in a specially constructed competition kitchen in front of an audience 9:00AM–2:00PM every day. Besides world-class food preparation, trade fair visitors will also be able to participate in interesting interviews and conversation at the table in front of Alexander’s kitchen.
“Former competitors from Bocuse d’Or will talk about what the competition meant for them and for Swedish gastronomy, and every day will end with an interview with Alexander and his team. We have also invited interesting profiles from the industry to come talk about the development and future of the industry,” says Frida Rönnlund from Gastronomy Sweden, which is responsible for the Swedish Bocuse d’Or participation.
Swedish National Food Truck Championship
The first official Swedish Food Truck Championship will be held at GastroNord. Twenty-five competing food trucks will continuously prepare their best dishes. The entries will be assessed based on flavor, appearance, value-for-money, hygiene and the quality of the ingredients.
