SINGAPORE, 25 April 2016 --(ASIA TODAY)-- Based on a radically innovative model of eldercare called Green House, USA’s Jewish Home Lifecare will be building the single largest eldercare project (estimated US$300 million) in the upper west side of New York City. For the first time in Asia, Dr Audrey Weiner, President & CEO, Jewish Home Lifecare will be sharing insights on the World’s First Vertical Green House Model through her opening keynote address ‘Future of institutional care delivery to support ageing-in-place’ at the 7th Ageing Asia Innovation Forum 2016 (AAIF2016) held at the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Convention Centre, Singapore from 26-27 April 2016.
Dr Lee Chien Earn, CEO of Changi General Hospital (CGH) will also be giving a special address on the first day of the conference on ‘Future of healthcare innovations to support successful ageing for all ages’. Adding on to the hospital perspective, a special panel discussion with leading hospital and healthcare groups in Singapore on 27 April will see Ms Loh Shu Ching, CEO, Ren Ci Hospital, Ms Chin Wei Jia, Group CEO, Health Management International Limited, Mr Walter Lee, Executive Director, United Medicare Pte Ltd and Mr Lee Suen Ming, CEO, Mt Alvernia Hospital driving discussions on transforming healthcare systems to support ageing-in-place, and review the future of healthcare delivery and integration with transitional care and rehab.
45 international and local aged care, seniors living and healthcare experts will be congregating at the AAIF2016, themed, ‘Integrated care & ageing friendly communities’ that will be welcoming over 500 industry representatives from 17 countries to exchange ideas and access partnership opportunities to change the future of ageing in Asia Pacific. “Each year, AAIF strives to bring in global best practice models in housing, health and care services that will improve the quality of living for older adults in our region,” says Janice Chia, Founder & Managing Director of Ageing Asia Pte Ltd, organiser of the Ageing Asia Innovation Forum series.
This year, Ageing Asia is also launching the inaugural Ageing Asia Future of Eldercare Operations Seminar that is targeted at managers and care teams in healthcare and eldercare to access global programmes, innovation and strategies that help to increase productivity, improve capabilities and quality of care. Ageing Asia – Asia’s first ageing market consultancy social enterprise, is sponsoring all Singapore Intermediate and Long Term Care (ILTC) service providers to attend this seminar that is running alongside the 7th Ageing Asia Innovation Forum from 26-27 April at the MBS Convention Centre.

NEW PRODUCT LAUNCHES AT THE 7TH AGEING ASIA INNOVATION FORUM EXHIBITION SHOWCASE
27 showcases will be featuring their latest innovations and service offerings at the exhibition showcase, held with the 7th Ageing Asia Innovation Forum. Eight new products tailored to improve the quality of living for older adults will be launched and available for commercialisation for the first time in Asia. The Ageing Asia exhibition showcase expanded by 25% compared to last year.
“In view of the changing needs of the eldercare sector, the need for technological intervention is necessary to boost productivity and increase efficiencies to allow a better delivery of care for older adults. Globally the ageing population is increasing, and more product and service providers have started to include the ageing demographics as a key consideration for their business strategy, and to ensure all forms of support are integrated for the ageing population,” says Janice Chia.
Local manufacturer of healthcare furniture and products, Systmz will be launching an ergonomic crockery sets that are elderly and patient friendly. The healthcare patient crockery: “ripple”, demonstrated the symphony of Dining experience, Stewarding, and Culinary operations, and went through a successful trial at the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
The memoriana room concept that evolved from systematic assessments of the every day experiences of caring for persons living with dementia has been well-received in eldercare facilities in Europe. Using special furniture, colour schemes and layout, the memoriana room concept creates an environment where persons living with dementia can easily oriented themselves independently and safely. The objective of the concept is to support both persons living with dementia (staying in a care facility) and the care staff. The entire room concept with furniture will be showcased at the exhibition.
Makers of activity products for persons living with dementia, Active Minds from the UK has been developing products for persons living with dementia to lead an active, engaging and fulfilling lifestyle. These products will be made available in Singapore by ASPIRE55 – Asia’s first virtual retirement village who will be carrying the products in their newly launch Happy Life Shop that promotes products that enable healthy, dignified and independent ageing.
GLOBAL INTEGRATED SENIORS LIVING MODELS THAT WILL BE SHOWCASED AT AAIF2016
By 2020, the region’s ageing population is projected to increase to 500 million elderly, and the ageing market potential is expected to hit US$3.3 trillion, according to the 3rd Asia Pacific Silver Economy Business Opportunities Report 2015. Since last year, countries in the region have been ramping up on aged care initiatives and expansion to meet the demands of a rising ageing population.
#1 The Tanner Hill project is Hong Kong’s FIRST self-financing retirement housing model integrating independent and assisted living.
Dr Lam Ching-Choi, BBS, JP, CEO, Haven of Hope Christian Services will be sharing more on this self-financing model on Tue, 26 April. Dr Lam is also the newly appointed Chairman of the Elderly Commission, Government of Hong Kong SAR.
