Now in its 12th year, the Awards recognise outstanding franchisors and licensors, and serves as the industry standard for businesses looking to enter the playing field
SINGAPORE – May 27, 2016 -- (ASIA TODAY) -- The Franchising and Licensing Association (Singapore) has officially kicked off the FLA Awards 2016, the annual awards that recognise outstanding franchising and licensing concepts and achievements in Singapore. Now in its 12th year, the Awards continue to set the standard for franchisors and licensors, and help advance the development and progress of franchise companies in the international arena.
The annual FLA Awards have consistently been at the forefront of industry changes and trends. In recent years, it has been particularly successful in introducing new franchise and license concepts and spotlighting on less-traditional verticals in the franchising and licensing
sector, which was largely associated with the food and beverage (F&B) industry. In fact, the FLA Awards 2015 unveiled winners from a wide range of industry vertical spanning education to fitness and wellness, with Anytime Fitness taking home the Overall Winner of bothFranchisor of the Year and International Franchisor of the Year awards.
With franchising and licensing proving to be a viable business model for the health sector, the trend is set to rise with the industry seeing an increasing number of physiotherapy clinics jumping on the franchising and licensing bandwagon.
“Contrary to popular belief, franchising and licensing is not confined to businesses operating only in the F&B industry. The growing appeal and success of franchising and licensing is evident in the range of businesses across various sectors that have adopted this business
model, and growing their brands in international markets,” said Donna Lee, Chair, FLA Singapore. “We strongly encourage brands to participate in the Awards as it is a great way for businesses to enhance their brand value and benchmark their concepts locally and
internationally.”
The Awards, which are made up of Competitive and Recognition Awards, comprise eight different categories that recognise and honour the various stakeholders in the industry, including franchisors, licensors and franchisees.
“Winning the Overall Winner of both the Franchisor of the Year and International Franchisor of the Year at the FLA 2015 Awards played an integral role in expanding the Anytime Fitness brand across multiple markets in Asia. The Awards reinforced our credibility in the market,
allowing us to secure an array of franchise interest and propel our brand across Asia easily,” said Maurice Levine, CEO & Master Franchisee, Anytime Fitness Asia. “Even the award submission process proved to be highly insightful as it challenged us to consolidate our
thinking, articulate our brand vision and determine how we were going to achieve our aims for the brand.”
Since its inception, more than 200 brands have benefitted from the Awards, including 7-Eleven, Spinelli Coffee Company, Waraku and Brotzeit.
