Guangzhou --(ASIA TODAY)-- The Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology (GEBT) successfully concluded its 13th edition with record attendance. The 2016 fair hosted over 200 exhibitors (2015: 298) from 9 – 12 June at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.

Running concurrently with the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE), the two fairs welcomed 145,080 visitors (2015: 135,990) from 137 countries and regions, more than a six percent increase from last year.

GEBT 2016 successfully gathered influential intelligent building and smart home standards organisations. The aim was to facilitate market communication and integration between different standards and systems. Along with their members, these organisations demonstrated their strengths and latest technologies.

The ZigBee Member Group China was one of the exhibitors that drew considerable attention from professional visitors. The group introduced its ZigBee 3.0 standard at the fair. This standard enables communication and interoperability among devices for smart homes and connected lighting. Moreover, it gives businesses and consumers access to innovative products and services that will seamlessly work together to enhance everyday life.

In China, the trend in buildings is definitely moving towards advancing intelligence and security. GEBT is a great platform and a key show for us in China. We are absolutely pleased with the visitor flow and quality, and look forward to next edition.”Also satisfied with the fair results was German exhibitor ZF Friedrichshafen AG, one of the world's biggest suppliers for driveline and chassis technologies. The company introduced their innovative energy harvesting wireless switches this year. Mr Thomas Boethe, Product Manager of the company, shared: “This is only our second time here and we have already decided to participate again next year. GEBT is an important fair for us to present our smart home applications and solutions. We have already met a lot of visitors, both existing and new.”

Concurrent events widely praised for promoting technical and business exchange

In order to provide added value to fair attendees, the show organisers cooperated with influential industry associations to hold 10 seminars, covering nearly 50 topics. The events were divided into three categories: intelligent building and smart home standards, intelligent buildings, and smart homes and smart hotels.

The Intelligent Engineering Branch of China Exploration and Design Association co-organised the well-attended “Summit on Innovative Intelligent Building Technology Driven by Smart Cities 2016” event. Ms Hu Ping, President of the association, expressed: “GEBT has become such a vital event to the industry that building electrical professionals will not want to miss it. In recent years, lighting technologies have been moving towards more intelligent solutions and many technological breakthroughs are being realised. This trend ultimately helps to boost demand for building electrical technologies. Our summit gathered industry experts and we are very happy with the outcome of the event.”

The Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology, along with the concurrently held Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, is headed by the biennial Light + Building event. The mother event will take place from 18 – 23 March 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Messe Frankfurt also offers a series of other light and building technology events worldwide, including the Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology (SIBT), Shanghai Smart Home Technology (SSHT) and the Shanghai International Lighting Fair (SILF). Additionally, light and building fairs will also be hosted in Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and India.
