SHANGHAI --(ASIA TODAY)-- Asia’s leading home textiles and accessories trade fair will once again play host to some of the industry’s top manufacturers and brands as Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles gets set to take place next month. With the entire home textiles product spectrum on display and an expected 29 countries and regions represented, the sourcing options are second to none for the Asian region. The fair will take place over four days this year as opposed to the normal three-day event due to popular demand.

Helping buyers to navigate their way through all that is on offer are a number of pavilions and product zones. This includes the debut Portugal Pavilion featuring high-end bedding products, as well as pavilions from Belgium, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Taiwan and Turkey in the International Area (hall 4.1). Various Chinese regional pavilions also feature throughout the domestic halls, as do themed halls to further expedite the sourcing process: Emerging Players Hall (4.2), Glamorous Brands Hall (5.1), Colourful Haining Hall (5.2), Fashionable Yuhang Hall (6.1) and the Premium Two-City Hall (6.2).

Upholstery fabrics have been the mainstay of the fair for many years, and as such, leading Chinese and overseas brands are taking part. Those making the journey to China include Ateja, Celesta, Culp, Danzo Fabric, D’Décor, Foresti Fabric, GM Syntex, Gustav Gerster, Libeco, Opificio Fabric, Sangwontex, Sorensen Laeder, Ter Molst, Trevira, Wipelli and Youjin Textile. Top domestic brands such as Blossom, Dalian Dongli, Homex, MBM Fabrics, Shantou Qilong and Zhejang Babei will also feature. And with the crossover between upholstery suppliers and editors, the editors’ area this year will be occupied by brands such as Armonia Di Interni, Boeme, CASAMANCE, CETEC, CTA collection, Designers Guild, Edinburgh Weavers, Gironestof, JAB ANSTOETZ, JOVER, Olivier Thevenon, PASAYA, Prestigious and Yutes Fabric.

The bedding & towelling and fine products categories have also attracted leading international brands such as Advansa, Brinkhaus, Cotton Council International, Larsen, Lenzing, Naturtex, OBB Oberbadische Bettfedernfabrik and Toyobo. Another product zone which has proved extremely popular with buyers over recent years is the Intertextile Design Boutique. Designer studios taking part include Antoinette et Freddy, Atelier Mineeda, Cosmo Kumagai, Diane Harrison Designs, Elka Studio, Ever Fine Design, EVO Studio Sagl, Fine Art Inc, Studio Van Den Broek and Tela's Design. Rounding out the product spectrum are upholstery leather and sun protection systems & window accessories areas, as well as a digital printing zone which will include the likes of Atexco, D.gen, DIGITEX and Epson.

Industry’s top editors partake in Trevira CS Design Challenge

This year’s fair also sees a unique cooperation between German fibre & yarn producer Trevira and a number of editors through the Trevira CS Design Challenge. The Challenge attempts to answer the question ‘How can fabrics make a space a special place?’, with renowned international textile companies such as JAB ANSTOETZ, Kobefab, Lelièvre, Nya Nordiska, Pascale Gontier, SoFarSoNear and Tapicerias Gancedo taking up the challenge. Their fabrics will be decorated by an independent designer, and a jury of 10 architects will select three winners.

Fairgoers can visit the Trevira CS Design Challenge gallery in Exquisite Europe (hall 4.1) to view the entrants and experience how flame-retardant Trevira CS fabrics add character to a room. Trevira manufactures speciality polyester fibres and filament yarns for the textile industry, including permanently flame retardant fibres and yarns for home and contract textiles. Applications include curtains, upholstery fabrics, wall coverings, partition blinds, interior solar protection, noise quencher fabrics and more.

Another of the industry’s leading suppliers from Germany, and featuring in the editor section of the fair as well as the Challenge, is JAB ANSTOETZ. They will present three new collections at Intertextile Shanghai this year:

• NOBLE HOUSE: the viscose component in the velvet provides a special accent and lends the wonderfully soft and extremely hardwearing upholstery fabrics a precious lustre.

• DIVA: offers something for everyone from striking decoration fabrics to elegant upholstery creations to eye-catching voiles.

• AVANT GARDE: graphic design and clean lines of the Art Deco period were the inspiration.

Lenzing introduces debut Green Village to provide more eco-friendly sourcing options

Adding to the wide range available for buyers is a new Green Village sponsored by Lenzing featuring eco-friendly home textile products. The zone will include a number of Lenzing’s partner mills who will showcase their products including mattresses, bed linen, duvets, towels and carpets.

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd; the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT; and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA).
