SHANGHAI --(ASIA TODAY)-- This year’s Automechanika Shanghai show has maintained the road to success with its continued growth following the relocation to a bigger venue last year in Shanghai. The world’s second largest trade show for automotive parts, accessories, equipment and services is returning to the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Puxi, Shanghai from 30 November – 3 December 2016 with an even bigger show confirmed.
Considerable growth in both exhibitors and visitors from around the world is expected over last year’s numbers. Organisers are forecasting exhibitors to increase to 5,700, a 6% increase from last year, and visitors are expected to increase to 120,000, which is a jump of nearly 10% over last year’s numbers.
Last year was the first at the new venue and Automechanika Shanghai 2016 will be returning to this enlarged venue to accommodate the continuously growing popularity of the show. The 312,000 sqm exhibition space has also expanded from the space utilised last year by nearly 12%. There will be 13 halls, inclusive of both the North and West halls, to offer massive opportunities for information exchange, marketing, trading and education. The expanded space includes OE and aftermarkets of the entire industry chain.
Connectivity Zone and Electronics & Systems sector are major highlights of show
The continued success and expansion of Automechanika Shanghai has opened new options for special zones. Due to growing market trends and demands, the Electronics & Systems sector and its related Connectivity Zone are seeing particular gains and will be highlighted in specialised zones in a larger area. The idea of automotive connectivity will be a focal point at Automechanika Shanghai 2016.
The connected vehicle is the trend of the future. Connected vehicles are able to communicate with each other and the surrounding transportation infrastructure to enhance safety, convenience and efficient flow of traffic. With the enhanced connectivity features of vehicles brings greater business opportunities. Gartner, the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, forecasts that one in five vehicles on the road worldwide will be linked by some form of wireless connection by 2020. This will result in 250 million connected vehicles in the next 4 years. Market opportunities will only continue to grow in this field in the future.
As a result of this market expansion, connected vehicles, parts and equipment will be housed in the Electronics & Systems sector, which will expand to fill the entirety of Hall 4.1. The connectivity zone within the Electronics & Systems hall will also amplify the latest trends in connectivity, alternative drives, automated driving and mobility services. In addition to showcasing the latest trends, the hall will also include a series of events, such as seminars and various vehicle and product displays to give the industry players a comprehensive insight into the world of connected mobility.
Automechanika Shanghai 2016 is expecting a full spectrum of Electronics & Systems sector exhibitors at the show, including 1st and 2nd tier vehicle suppliers, telematics companies, mobile phone and network carriers, software developers, Internet providers as well as suppliers of traffic technology who offer products and solutions for connected cars and mobility solutions for the future. Brands confirmed to participate this year include: Aborn, Bosch, Continental, Hella, Huirun, Interstate Batteries and Transpo among others.
In addition to the gains seen by the Electronics & Systems sector, Accessories & Customising is also experiencing extensive growth this year. For the first time, West Hall will be housing the Wheel Rim/Tyre sectors.
Returning to Automechanika Shanghai this year is the E-mobility & Infrastructure sector in North Hall, which was known as the New Energy Zone in previous editions. The exhibition space is expected to double in size this year. Remanufacturing, a component of the Parts & Components – Powertrain sector, will be located in Hall 1.
