Madrid, 14 September 2016 - The ARCO Foundation has been selected to participate in the "Corporate Art Awards", which aim to identify, distinguish and promote excellence and the best practices in the collaboration between the worlds of business and international art.
The award, organised by pptArt, in collaboration with LUISS Business School and the Italian Ministry for Culture, is curated by Luca Desiata, professor of Corporate Art at the LUISS Business School, and enjoys the advice of a committee made up of art professionals, which will publish the winner in Rome in November.
The ARCO Foundation
In 1987, IFEMA fostered the creation of the ARCO Foundation and its Collection. Its objective is the promotion, research and dissemination of contemporary art, as well as the publication, training and teaching of the art trends and techniques, particularly those relating to the modern expressions of contemporary art.
Throughout the year, its sets various initiatives, events and awards in motion aimed at its main objective of injecting dynamism into the market and driving it forward.
In addition, the ARCO Foundation Collection gathers together works acquired each year at ARCOmadrid. At present, its collection represents one of the most outstanding contemporary art collections in Spain which, since its origins, has had two very clear objectives: in the first place, to provide an example for other institutions and companies when acquiring works of art at ARCOmadrid, and on the other, to incentivise corporate, private and institutional collecting of contemporary art and drive the market that revolves around the Fair.
The ARCO Foundation Collection, which currently includes over 300 pieces, has enjoyed the advice of numerous professionals from the sector, from all over the world, such as Edy de Wilde; Gloria Moure; Jan Debbaut; Dan Cameron; Iwona Blazwick; María de Corral; Chus Martínez; Sabine Brietwiesser; José Guirao; Miguel von Hafe; Ferrán Barenblit; Glòria Picazo; Yolanda Romero, Taru Elfving and Ángela María Pérez Mejía. In 2016, the advisors are Miguel von Hafe and Manuel Segade.
The ARCO Foundation Collection is currently housed, on loan, in CA2M Centro de Arte dos de Mayo de Móstoles de la Comunidad de Madrid. The works form part of the exhibition project of CA2M and, as such, are exhibited in the different exhibitions organised by this space.
