Oddcolony is the titillating name of this season's Formex’s combined restaurant, stage, and inspirational exhibition in Hall B. The Oddbirds are the super designers responsible for the design of the dazzling Oddcolony area that will be on site complete with a greenhouse, garden beds, and budding tulip bulbs when Formex kicks off the design year in the middle of January.
They got their inspiration from different spaces in the newly awakened garden.
"This is the time of year when people really start to wish that nature would spring to life again. The desire to let your green fingers come out and scratch the back of your own patch of ground is irresistible,” said Oddbirds.
In Oddcolony, the outdoor furniture has been moved forward—along with the clocks.
“We’re planting seeds, potting up seedlings, and lying in the hammock and just existing. We’re wandering around exquisite compact boutique environments filled with products from the fair and enjoying a delicious lunch in the blooming winter garden. The chirping of birds, the scent of newly opened buds, and the taste of divine spring produce all combine into an intense sensory experience!"
Oddbirds consists of a flock of strange and colorful birds nesting in the same box. They love interior design and development. Their aim is to inspire and stimulate the desire to make beautiful things. They are inspirers, catalysts, visual merchandisers, and carrots. They are stylists, play makers, florists, image creators, and stage managers.
Formex will take place on January 17–20, 2013, at Stockholmsmässan. Formex is the meeting place for innovations, business, trends, knowledge, and inspiration. The fair is held twice a year, with more than 800 exhibitors, 25,000 trade visitors, and 800 media representatives.
