Russia's delegation visits NCKU to boost up educational collaboration

Tainan, Taiwan, Jan. 22, 2013 - Zinchenko Vladislav Ivanovich, Advisor of the Tomsk region Governor, Russia, accompanied with Shelupanov Alexander A., Vice-Rector for Research of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectonics (TUCSR), Russia, recently visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, with President Hwung-Hweng Hwung and Dr. Chin-Hsiang Cheng, Chairman of Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, to reveal interest in the academia-industry collaboration and to step up exchange of students in the coming academic year.

NCKU and TUSUR, Institute for Innovations, had signed an agreement on facilitating the academic exchange of faculty and students in 2011, promoting collaborative research between faculty members.

President Hwung welcomed the guests from Russia, saying she was impressed by the international profile of TUSUR and Tomsk University and the distinctive attribute that is appreciated to the world with the efforts of developing advanced technology.

Tomsk has been expanding its international contacts, according to Dr. Ivanovich, and since 2004 it has been developing cooperation with Taiwan.

He said, among all the other Russian regions Tomsk is the leading one in the sphere of cooperation with Taiwan.

Dr. Ivanovich introduced Tomsk to NCKU with some key issues, saying Tomsk region in Siberia is strongly committed to forging constructive links with regional government, academia, industry, and international research institutes.

With the solid connection with Taiwan’s universities, especially with NCKU, the science projects that professors from both sides are involved in can be doubled or even increased many times if the interdisciplinary efforts are fostered in the long run, Dr. Ivanovich noted.
