SINGAPORE, January 31, 2013 -(ASIA TODAY)- Fuji Xerox’s office-use digital color multifunction devices have won the Chairman’s Prize, The Energy Conservation Center, Japan, in the 2012 Grand Prize for Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Conservation (Product Category & Business Model Category). A total of 35 products won the prize from four models of the ApeosPort-IV series*1 and four models from the DocuCentre-IV series*2. Fuji Xerox has been awarded the most number of times in its industry; 12 times in total. The Grand Prize for Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Conservation is sponsored by The Energy Conservation Center, Japan and supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI).
Features of the Prize-Winning Products
The prize-winning products realized virtually zero waiting time experience by integrating three Fuji Xerox unique technologies: Smart WelcomEyes, Smart Energy Management and high-speed recovery from the sleep mode (Fig. 1).
In addition, the combination of Smart Energy Management with technologies such as induction heating (IH) fusing has reduced power consumption down to 28-39 percent of the Typical Electric Consumption (TEC) value*3 that meet the International Energy Star Program.
For example, if multifunction devices are replaced with the models with virtually zero waiting time, annual power consumption will be reduced by an estimated 41.62 million kilowatts*4.
Moreover, these models have adopted an advanced initiative for conserving natural resources by being the first to use parts made of resin from wood-based biomass which do not to compete with food issues.
Fuji Xerox’s Efforts in Developing Energy-Saving Products
Under the concept RealGreen, Fuji Xerox is pursuing technology/product development with an aim to reduce environmental impact through measures such as energy conservation, while also achieving comfortable and convenient product usage. The prize-winning eight models have incorporated environmental features by realizing both energy conservation and usability based on the RealGreen concept.
Fuji Xerox will continue to aggressively pursue the reduction of environmental impact through development of new technologies and products.

*2: DocuCentre-IV C5575/C4475/C3375/C2275
*3: The amount of power consumed by office equipments such as printers / copiers over a conceptual week (five days of operation and repeated sleep-mode / power-off, plus two days of sleep mode / power-off).
*4: Based on an evaluation comparing the Fuji Xerox model launched in 2008 by extending the transition time from standby mode to sleep mode by one hour versus the eight models launched in 2011 with sleep transition time set at delivery. Here, the TEC refers to the value after its planned revisal in 2013.
