Tank Storage Asia will double in size in 2013 according to the event organiser, easyFairs. This bold prediction is not without substance as the company has just revealed the 2012 show achieved a huge leap in attendees and record exhibitor re-bookings.
Tank Storage Asia 2012 attracted 578 visitors, a 328% increase on the previous year. Inspired by its gathering momentum, an unprecedented 78% of exhibitors re-booked onsite for the 2013 show.
Matt Benyon, Managing Director of easyFairs, the organisers of Tank Storage Asia, says, “I’ve been running shows for many years but I’ve never seen almost four-fifths of the show floor re-book on the spot, and the enquiries have continued to flow in ever since. I think people recognise the event’s potential, they feel it has a fresh impetus, they like our vision for the show and the big injection of marketing that we’re putting behind it. They want to be a part of it.”
easyFairs also runs StocExpo, a key event for the European market. Matt Benyon again, “I think we will see an even bigger spike in bookings in March. Companies, fresh back from exhibiting with us at a great StocExpo, when reviewing their strategy for the Asian market, are bound to take a serious look at Tank Storage Asia, given the buzz that’s building around the show. That’s why I confidently predict Tank Storage Asia will more than double in size when it returns at the end of this year.”
Tank Storage Asia has certainly quickly developed in terms of its scale and scope since easyFairs acquired the show at the end of 2011. The 2012 show attracted terminal operators, oil majors and petrochemical companies from right across Asia, who in turn saw a record number of suppliers showing their newest and brightest technologies.
Visitors like Abdalaziz Almutairi, Project Engineer at Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), are impressed by the range of exhibitors they saw: “This was an important show for us to come and see, it has saved us a lot of time searching around for solutions online; we have certainly found some suppliers we can do business with. We came to the show looking for innovative ideas and have found just that.”
The event also provided a two-day top flight conference, which was attended by more paying delegates than ever before. The programme covered the whole Asia region - from the Middle East to China and New Zealand - and featured world-renowned speakers, such as: Tan Wooi Leong, Vice President (Oil & Gas) at Jurong Consultants; Sanjeev Sisaudi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Petrochem; and Brent Cooper, Terminal Operations Manager at Z Energy.
The speakers and strong content scored highly in delegate feedback, as Jan Tenn Kanigen, COO, MaxGrip confirms: “I came to the show to increase my knowledge and see what’s available, so that I can serve my customers better. It’s been well worth the visit.”
Bringing the entire industry under one roof for two days also provided a great opportunity for networking, the sharing of ideas and the forging of new business contacts. Jason Ong, Service Engineer at Scanjet, says: “The quality of visitors has been excellent. We have met the influential people we needed to meet. It has been very worthwhile and we will be back next year.”
This positive attendee feedback was mirrored by the exhibitors, whose comments demonstrated why a record 78% have already committed to return to Tank Storage Asia which takes place on 10 &11 December 2013 at Max Atria, Singapore Expo.
Guillaume Heurteloup, Process Engineer at CarboVac said, “The world economy is facing a recent swing toward Asia and we want to be a part of it!”
Bertram Kuld, Product Manager at Endress + Hauser, agrees and sees the show as the ideal vehicle to reach it: “Tank Storage Asia is a superb opportunity to meet with existing and potential customers.”
Roderick Stanley, CEO at Schuf Fetterolf, adds: “It was a well organised show with a diverse and knowledgeable mix of customers, suppliers and engineering companies… Tank Storage Asia has arrived!”
Buoyed by comments like these, easyFairs is now focused on taking the event to even higher levels as Matt Benyon concludes: “Our ambition for this show is huge. Doubling the show this year will be great, but it is simply one of the milestones in our long-term vision to create an extraordinarily powerful event where the industry from right across Asia gathers.”
