Children surviving heart conditions participate in group canvas painting at Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur ~

Kuala Lumpur, 26 February 2013 –(ASIA TODAY)- Sounds of joy and laughter rang through Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur as more than 20 children painted their drawings in rich and vibrant colours together with renowned artist, Jake Goh. The activity was conducted in conjunction with the festivities as Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur’s celebrated with children and families who have benefited from Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur’s ‘A Heart for A Heart’ programme.

“Paint is an art material that is easily adaptable for a wide variety of art activities. This is why we took on this activity with the children as it symbolizes their adaptability towards life despite having a tough time at a young age. We also hope this activity will teach these children the value of teamwork towards achieving desired goals”, Said Claire Sondaz, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communications at Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur

Themed “Celebration of Life”, the painting activity was a means to honour the resilience of these wonderful children. Jake Goh kick-started the event with a live painting session as children and guests watched him in action. Audience had the opportunity to learn about the techniques involving canvas painting and also pose questions to Goh who was more than happy to answer them. The finished painting will be auctioned much later in the year with proceeds donated to charity

Following the live painting session, the children participated in a group painting activity along with Goh on a large canvas. Armed with paint brushes and their fingers, shrills of laughter’s were heard in abundance as the children started painting. Their paintings represented their gratitude for their lives as well as hopes for the future and involved the design of a Sunflower. The final ‘masterpiece’ was greeted with much cheer from the children as they struck a pose for the photographers along with their parents and siblings.

“It is always a pleasure to be able to work with children for creative activity such as this. I must say, I am very proud with what the children have come up with!” said Jake Goh.

The A Heart for A Heart’ programme was established in 1996 by Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur with the specific purpose of helping families with babies or children born with congenital heart defects. Bridging contributions from the generous public with the families’ plea for help through partnership with local publications, the initiative has assisted more than 600 cases of children with congenital heart defects to obtain the help they need.
