(Bangkok--May 7, 2013) Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) joins forces with IMPACT Exhibition Management and MEX Exhibitions from India, to stage the LED Expo Thailand 2013, gathering electrical industrial entrepreneurs and promoting LED lighting to reduce global warming. More than 500 international brands from over 200 companies across the world will showcase cutting-edge LED products, seminars and workshops to promote the use of efficient LED lighting in Thailand.

Mr. Sutat Patmasiriwat, Governor of EGAT said “nowadays, Thailand's energy consumption is critically high. EGAT has been very concerned about this. March 28, 2013, national energy consumption was 26,423 megawatts. It is expected to reach 27,000 megawatts by the end of next year. To cope with this challenge, EGAT, therefore, launched the LED Lighting Campaign in 2013 as a key project to encourage all relevant parties to take part in reduction of energy consumption”.

“According to this project, EGAT develops and introduces a number of implementations beginning with energy-efficiency label No.5 for LED lighting (MR 16 type). This labeling program will soon be implemented following by other categories throughout next year. This is expected to reduce the electricity usage which will benefit to the reduction of national energy consumption and the reduction of global warming in the future”.

"LED Expo Thailand 2013 is another key activity that aims to encourage high quality product usage to reduce energy consumption in all levels both domestically and internationally. EGAT joins forces with IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. and MEX Exhibitions from India to organize this grand event during May 23 -25 at Hall 3-4, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok.
