Fuji Xerox invites customers to submit their best work for the annual awards recognizing excellence in digital printing
SINGAPORE, June 10, 2013 – Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. once again seeks to pay tribute to the best and most innovative users of Fuji Xerox solutions at the annual Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging Awards, or PIXI Awards. Into its sixth year, the PIXI Awards recognize the most outstanding of digitally printed communications that have been created on a Fuji Xerox/Xerox digital printer. The competition will be open from today till 31st August 2013.
Fuji Xerox plans to present up to eighty-five awards this year, including the “Best in Show” award, First and Second Place winners in each of the Application categories, winner for the Industry category, the Digital and Offset Together Award, the Innovation Award and the Environmental Award. Besides highlighting the merits of the printers, all the awards also give recognition to the designer and the customer.
Unlike previous years, the following categories will be split into two: Brochures and Catalogues; Posters & Point of Sale Material; and Calendars & Photo Books, as the variations in these applications had presented difficulties in judging. In addition, a new category, Menus, has been added. In all, the 16 application-type entry categories open for submission in 2013 are:
1. Books and Manuals
2. Brochures
3. Catalogues
4. Leaflets and Flyers
5. Posters
6. Point of Sale Material
7. Calendars
8. Photo Books
9. Multi-piece Production
10. Cards and Invitations
11. TransPromo
12. Direct Marketing
13. Menus (new)
14. Digital Packaging
15. Self-promotion
16. Digital Proofing
Submission categories for industry entries include Education, Finance, Healthcare and others.
Judges will also be on the lookout for entries that take environmental factors into consideration, display a high level of innovation and demonstrate the best combined use of digital and offset printing.
Entrants will be judged based upon:
• Print quality
• Degree of innovation
• Use of digital technology
• Business effectiveness
• Overall aesthetics
The judging panel comprises Alf Carrigan, a 50-year veteran of the traditional print industry, and Paul Callaghan, CEO of Print Pack Publishing Asia. Both of them are returning as appointed judges independent of Fuji Xerox.
“As a veteran in printing and having grown up with gravure, flexographic and offset processes, I have seen digital print grow from its infancy to become the mainstream of the print industry,” Carrigan said. “The PIXI Awards provide the ideal platform to applaud those who are able to unleash their creativity to demonstrate the infinite possibilities of digital print.”
“Our customers thoroughly deserve to be recognized for creating such remarkable pieces of work with Fuji Xerox technologies,” said Mike Braggins, senior manager of Graphic Communication MarCom, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific. “We aim to help them take their masterpieces a step further by leveraging on PIXI to market their services. The judges from past years have told me that choosing winners becomes more difficult every year with the surge of increasingly innovative entrants. We are excited to see what participants will be presenting this year, in line with better quality, greater quantities and a wider range of applications.”
