MOT - News Release, 02-Nov-2012 - The Ministry of Transport (MOT), with its statutory boards – Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Land Transport Authority (LTA), Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Public Transport Council (PTC) – have raised more than $700,000 for Community Chest through its yearly MOT Family Charity Outreach programme.
2 Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport, presented the donation of $714,102.88 to Mr Hwang Peng Yuan, Vice-Chairman of Community Chest Committee, at the CAAS’ Aviation Community Charity Movie – an “Aviation Community Cares” event this evening. Minister Lui said: “The MOT family is committed to helping those less fortunate in society. I am happy that through the MOT Family Charity Outreach, we have raised more than $700,000 for the beneficiaries of Community Chest.”
3 MOT’s agencies contribute individually to charitable causes. CAAS has a HOPE Fund which helps children with multiple disabilities in Rainbow Centre – Margaret Drive School, while LTA has a Cares Fund which supports the transport needs of the physically and financially disadvantaged. MPA has a CARE team that organises a series of fund-raising activities throughout the year for a variety of charitable organisations. The beneficiaries supported by MOT’s agencies are under the ambit of Community Chest.
CAAS’ Aviation Community Charity Movie
4 The CAAS’ Aviation Community Charity Movie, an “Aviation Community Cares” initiative, was launched in 2011, to garner the community’s collective commitment to help the less fortunate by raising funds for the charities supported by Community Chest. A total of $121,528.00 was raised for the CAAS’ Aviation Community Charity Movie this year.
