Another Successful Awards Season Brings Recognition to Asia’s Leading Pay-TV Network
Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, 3 March, 2014 – FOX International Channels triumphed at this morning’s star-studded 86th Academy Awards ceremony at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverley Hills, California. As Asia’s leading pay-TV network, FIC took home five awards for two films to which it has acquired the pay-TV broadcast rights in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia on FOX Movies Premium, the premier Hollywood movie channel.
The Academy Awards marks the end of another successful awards season for FIC, and the international recognition by such a prestigious ceremony truly substantiates FIC’s dedication to providing the very best content to its viewers in the region.
After leading the nominations, historical-epic and awards season favourite, 12 Years a Slave, took away the evening’s most coveted accolade, ‘Best Picture’. Its supporting star, Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o, was awarded ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’, while its screenwriter, John Ridley, won ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’.
Animated caper Frozen was also honoured, picking up ‘Best Animated Feature’, and also ‘Best Original Song’ for “Let It Go”.
Brian Lau, Senior Vice President of Content and Communications at FIC Asia said, “There is no film event in the world more prestigious than the Oscars, and any film, actor, director, or other creative talent who wins the coveted award knows that they have reached the pinnacle of the industry. We are proud to have acquired these Oscar-winning and nominated films because they are emblematic of the quality and care we strive to bring to our viewers every day. We love these films — collectively, some of the best films of the year — and we hope our viewers will love them too.”
