Thirty delegates from association sector, PCOs, hotels, venue operators, DMCs, F&B services, and universities shared their creative thoughts, researched intensively and joyfully showed their persuasive and presentation skill on how to bid ICCA World Congress 2020 to Thailand during Day 1 of the two-day ICCA Thailand Workshop 2014, held at Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) and supported by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
The marketing workshop on bidding was part of ICCA Thailand Workshop 2014 which was organized by ICCA Thailand Committee to enhance strategic partnership between clients, suppliers and PCOs as a means towards successful meetings. The workshop program on Day 1 included presentation on “Dancing in Partnership”, how to build a good relationship between clients, PCO s and suppliers, and ICCA marketing tools for promoting products and services, which were delivered by Ms. Suprabha Moleeratanond, ICCA Honorary Member, Mr. Juan Jose Garcia, 1st Vice President of ICCA and Mr. Noor Ahmad Hamid, Regional Director Asia Pacific, ICCA Asia Pacific, respectively.
The delegates broadened their scope of learning in just one day on Day 2 of the workshop. With the topics delivering concept, approach, fact & figure and case studies on bidding trends, business models for clients and suppliers, and management of events under tough times, strategic partnership between clients and suppliers became clearer in focus for the delegates.
The content of the workshop was further enriched by the two-hour live stream seminar from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Supported by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, the live stream was broadcast online to global audience under the titled “what do associations really think about risks and rewards for outsourcing their events and what are the marketing implications for suppliers?”
The workshop ended with delegates sharing their minds on what they can take away from the two-day workshop. Available resources yet to be utilized for meeting industry, understanding their industry partners through role play, deeper insight about clients, some ethical practices and business working models are some of the highlights they cited.
The two-day workshop was led and moderated by Mr. Juan Jose Garcia, 1st Vice President of International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and Mr. Noor Hamid Ahmad, Regional Director of ICCA Asia Pacific. Other speakers were from overseas PCO (MCI Malaysia), and two local organizations: the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand and Foundation for the Employment Promotion of the Blind.
