Rockwell Automation, the largest company dedicated to industrial automation, power, control and information solutions, announced it was named the Best Internet of Things (IoT) Provider and the Best Programmable Control Systems Provider at this year’s Asian Manufacturing Awards 2014 gala dinner. The announcement was made at Contineo Media’s annual ceremony honouring excellence in automation-technology solutions and most valued services across the region.
The competition was organised by Contineo Media – publisher of Asia Food Journal, Control Engineering Asia, Logistics Insight Asia, PharmaAsia and a number of other B2B trade publications – whilst an international panel of expert judges analysed all the nominations and ranked the winners in 39 categories, with the assistance of audit partner HLB Atrede, an external party engaged to ensure fairness and transparency. This is the second time Rockwell Automation has received regional accolades this year, following winning the Manufacturer of the Year Silver Award in the inaugural Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards in May.
Effectively promoting IoT as a key technology to drive the manufacturing industry towards more intelligent factories, Rockwell Automation supports companies in allowing immediate access to the right information at the right time for enhanced decision making, improved overall productivity, faster time-to-market, lower total cost of operating, improved returns of investment and reduced enterprise risk. By integrating IoT into the business ecosystem, enterprises are converging operational technologies on the factory floor and the corporation’s IT infrastructure to become more productive and competitive as connected enterprises.
“At Rockwell Automation, we have been investing in technologies that enable the Connected Enterprise so that people, processes, devices and data can be seamlessly and securely connected throughout the plant and the entire company. In doing so, we bring value to our customers including improved operational agility, responsiveness and performance, which results in enhanced cost effectiveness and overall efficiency. By connecting dispersed production systems and enterprise IT systems via EtherNet/IP – the world’s leading open industrial Ethernet network – manufacturers can quickly and efficiently adapt their operations to changing market demands,” said John Watts, Regional Marketing Director, Asia Pacific, Rockwell Automation. “We are pleased to be recognised as the Best IoT Provider in Asia, as it is testament to our strong commitment to continuous innovation – enabling our users to maximise the business potential that the Connected Enterprise promises.
Rockwell Automation was also named the Best Programmable Control Systems Provider, thanks to its Integrated Architecture System that features the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix programmable automation controller families. These solutions provide high-performance capabilities so users can standardise on a single control platform for small or large-scale applications.
“Rockwell Automation is proud to be a recognised innovation leader in the industrial-automation industry in Asia. Our Programmable Automation Control solutions, featuring the ControlLogix and CompactLogix families, provide the foundation to efficiently, effectively and securely drive plantwide optimisation. This helps companies address key market challenges by leveraging the convergence of control and information systems for improved productivity, easy access to global plant-wide information, extended product lifecycles, increased system flexibility and mitigated risks. As a result, we have customers reporting improved time-to-market, reduced maintenance costs, less down time and maximised performance; motivating us to strive for greater excellence,” said John Lohmann, Director, Integrated Architecture, Rockwell Automation Asia Pacific.
