Singapore franchise scene heats up this October

Singapore – Franchising & Licensing Asia (FLAsia) 2014 is the largest showing yet. Held from 16 – 18 October 2014 at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Level 1 Hall B & C, the 9th annual edition is 20 per cent larger in terms of exhibition space, and welcomes a record number of 313 international franchises and brands, from 22 countries all over the world.

Minister of State Teo Ser Luck will open FLAsia – the International Event for Entrepreneurship, Business Opportunities & Intellectual Property Rights in Asia. FLAsia is presented by Franchising and Licensing Association (FLA) Singapore, and organised by BizLink Exhibition Services Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).

Aptly themed “Entrepreneurship through Franchising”, visitors with an entrepreneurial appetite can make full use of this 3-day event to meet as many leading franchisors as they can, all under one roof.

This tremendous growth and many firsts at FLAsia are aimed at providing an enriching time for individuals seeking business and investment opportunities. Highlights include:

• South Korea will present their largest pavilion to date with 22 Korean franchising brands in the Beauty & Wellness, Education and F&B categories.

• Largest Malaysia Pavilion showcasing 7 brands in the Fashion, Beauty & Wellness and F&B categories, supported by the Malaysia Franchise Association, Franchise Malaysia, and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad.

• First Japan Zone showcasing 12 different high-quality F&B brand concepts (Sushi Chain, Ramen, Yakitori, Tempura, Teppan-yaki, etc.)

• Great interest of Europe brands this year, with 20 brands from Latvia, Portugal, France, UK, etc.

A total of 42 different exhibit categories will be represented, including Education, F&B, Beauty, Health & Wellness, Fashion, Cleaning & Environmental Services, Retail Equipment & Technologies and Gifts & Stationery etc. See Annex B for details interesting brand concepts at FLAsia 2014.

For a wholesome franchising experience, visitors are encouraged to participate in the International Conference & Workshop on 17 & 18 October featuring keynote speaker Joel Silverstein, President of East West Hospitality Group Limited on the topic “Franchising in Asia – Secrets of Success”, Hugh Gyton, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Anytime Fitness on “How to Recruit Solid Franchisees and Continue to Make Them Profitable and Satisfied” and Yew Woon Chooi, Partner of Rodyk & Davidson LLP on “Legal Aspects of Franchising”.

In summary, FLAsia packs knowledge and exciting brands into a 3-day trade event, delivering the best in franchising to Asia, bringing together industry leaders and providing insights on best practices.
