China continues to see strong demand for automation and related products
Pressured by rising labour costs, limited resources, tightened research and development, and manufacturing budgets, China’s manufacturing industry is in a period of industrial transition. Switching from labour intensive to precision automated manufacturing, the sensory market in China is expected to maintain an average annual growth rate of 30%. The sensor market in China is expected to be valued at over USD 19 billion by the end of 2014, while the market for gas sensors is expected to be worth USD 9 billion by 2020.
Boosted by a continuously growing demand for higher quality and precision products worldwide, machine vision technology has become a key tool for the manufacturing industry in China. Driven primarily by the country’s manufacturing capacity, China is currently one of the most active machine vision developers in the world. According to the 2013 – 2017 China Machine Vision Industry Development Prospects and Investment Forecast Analyst Report published by Prospects Industry Research Institute, the market size for the machine vision industry will maintain steady growth, reaching an expected total worth of USD 615 million by 2016.
Additionally, one of China’s main focuses in manufacturing is to implement automated robots into various production lines. China currently ranks fifth in the industrial robot market, just behind Germany, Japan, South Korea and the United States. The country’s market for industrial robots is projected to reach USD 1.3 billion by 2017. Moreover, automated robot shipments are expected to increase at a compounded annual rate of 13% and reach shipments of over 52,000 units by 2017. For brands looking to tap into the Chinese market, SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou remains a top choice of meeting target and qualified buyers.
