HONG KONG - ASIATODAY.COM - After a successful 2014 edition where new exhibitor, visitor and exhibition space records were set, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition returns in 2015 from 26 – 28 August. The fair will take place for the first time at a brand-new venue, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), with a total of six halls and around 160,000 sqm in use. Overseas exhibitors will be located in the International Hall (hall 4.1).
According to fair organisers Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, Intertextile Shanghai has become well established as the leading home textiles event in the region. “After 20 years in existence, this fair is now known as the premium platform in Asia to source from leading overseas brands and a wide range of domestic suppliers, as evidenced by the 10% increase in buyers last year to more than 43,000,” Ms Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager said.
“In 2015, we will continue to tailor the focuses of the fair to meet the needs of the growing domestic market, with the Exquisite Europe area, Editor Zone and the Intertextile Design Boutique all expected to be hugely popular with buyers again. The fair also continues to expand its offerings of wall coverings, carpets and rugs, and decorative fabrics to match domestic demand, in addition to the more traditional areas of upholstery, and carpets and rugs.”
Move to brand-new venue to benefit exhibitors
The new venue is a highly modern exhibition venue, and with 500,000 sqm of exhibition space is reportedly the largest in the world. “Relocating the fair is not only about offering exhibitors and visitors a brand-new venue with modern facilities, but it also allows us to benefit from the infrastructure and facilities that are being developed in Shanghai’s newest business hub,” Ms Wen commented.
Of further benefit for exhibitors, it is expected that this new venue will attract more quality domestic buyers. The fairground is located in the west of the city in Hongqiao, making it closer to the textile manufacturing hubs in surrounding provinces such as Jiangsu and Zhejiang. It is also positioned very close to Hongqiao airport, as well as the Hongqiao transport hub which has high-speed rail, regular rail and bus connections with the rest of the country, making it easier for buyers to get in and out of the city and affording them more time at the fair.
Intertextile Guangzhou Hometextile China to cease operation
The organisers of Intertextile Guangzhou Hometextile China confirmed last month that this sister fair of Intertextile Shanghai would no longer be held, with the decision to take effect from 2015. After a comprehensive discussion with a wide range of the fair’s stakeholders, it was decided that exhibitors and buyers would be better served with all the organisers’ efforts focused on Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition.
Ms Wen commented: “This decision came about after much discussion with all relevant stakeholders, and it was decided that a fair that served all regions of China, as our Shanghai one does, was a more effective way for our exhibitors to access the Chinese home textiles market. The Guangzhou fair focused more on the Guangdong and Southern China markets, whereas Intertextile Shanghai attracts many buyers from this region, as well as those from all over China. It is also a very international fair, with buyers from more than 90 other countries and regions attending. We believe that all those involved will benefit more from focusing their resources on this one fair.”
Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd; the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT; and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA).
