BEIJING, 27 February 2015 – ASIATODAY.COM - Informa Exhibitions today shares highlights of two new exhibition segments for the upcoming Hospital Build & Infrastructure China (HBI China) 2015, that will take place from 23 to 25 May at the Dalian World Expo Center. In line with its 2015 theme of "Reform, Innovation, Development, and Guidance", HBI China 2015 will see the debut of two new exhibition segments – Digital Hospital Solution and Mobile Health & Future Hospital – that are designed to offer visitors insights into the latest trends and developments within the global hospital construction industry.
“As the most authoritative trade event within Asia’s hospital build and construction industry, it is imperative for us to constantly keep up with the new market developments and develop new content that resonates well with our audiences,” commented Jack Wei, Exhibitions Director, Informa Exhibitions. “With the advent of technology, healthcare has become much more sophisticated over the years, such that it is no longer sufficient for hospitals to simply provide patients with a facility for medical treatments. With that in mind, we have included two new exhibition segments at HBI China 2015 that will help address some of the key trends in the future of healthcare and hospital construction.”
Hospitals of Tomorrow
Most chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes occur more often amongst older people but in recent years, the median age at diagnosis has seen a steady decline. While this fact is a cause for concern, the trend has contributed to a positive growth in the mobile health segment. Simply put, mobile health refers to the generation, aggregation, and dissemination of health-related information via mobile and wireless devices.
As patients become increasingly tech-savvy, demand has started to soar for mobile information access. This trend calls for more manufacturers to create services and equipment, such as wearable and portable medical devices for remote health monitoring and data collection, and mobile apps for education and wellness programmes, that provide hospitals with direct access to patients. According to the Global System for Mobile Communications Assembly (GSMA)[1], worldwide mobile health revenue is expected to reach US$23 billion across all stakeholders – mobile operators, device vendors, healthcare providers, and content/application players – by 2017, and the largest markets for mobile health services will be Europe and Asia Pacific, with both countries having a market share of 30% each. This further reinforces the notion that mobile is poised to play a significant role in healthcare.
Where hospitals are concerned, the concept of ‘digital hospital’ has started to gain traction amongst healthcare facilities providers, as these organisations begin to recognise the benefits of process digitisation for greater productivity, efficiency, and organisation. By integrating the entire healthcare ecosystem, including care orchestration, clinical logistics, electronic medical records, health analytics, and patient services, amongst others, hospitals will be in a better position to focus on offering patients safe and high quality healthcare.
At HBI China 2015, the two key trends above will be addressed in new dedicated zones: the Mobile Medical Health and Future Hospital Experience Area and the Digital Hospital Solutions zone.

Wei added, “In China, healthcare and hospital policy makers are gradually opening up to the idea of technology integration. We see great potential in ‘future hospital’ trends, and we expect the new show segments to be well-received by visitors at HBI China.”
As the most influential industry platform in the region, HBI China is the preferred platform for enterprises to promote their products and services, and for decision makers from healthcare facilities to keep up with latest industry trends and developments. The 2015 edition will provide exhibitors and visitors with a multi-dimensional business networking avenue that offers mutually-beneficial opportunities for all stakeholders within the healthcare infrastructure industry.
