Abu Dhabi, UAE, 15 March 2016: Tickets to Korea’s first cultural convention in the Middle East, KCON 2016, are selling fast as thousands of K-pop fans get ready to see BTS, TAEYEON (Girls’ Generation), KYUHYUN (Super Junior), Double S 301, MONSTA X, and SPICA.
New to the line-up is Ailee, dubbed the Korean Beyonce, who has now been confirmed to wow UAE fans at the du Arena, Abu Dhabi on 25 March.
With the first batch of tickets selling out fast, Asia’s leading media and content company CJ E&M announced that the second round of tickets are now available at local Virgin Megastores and www.ticketmaster.ae, with prices starting at AED350 for gold tickets.
KCON 2016 Abu Dhabi will open at 2:00pm featuring a host of activities which best represent Korean culture, including K-beauty and K-food. The first time a convention of this kind has been held in the Middle East, KCON has travelled to other major cities in the US and Japan since it launched in 2012.
The Middle East has been identified as an emerging market for Hallyu, or the so-called Korean wave, and Korean entertainment industry insiders believe the response to the event will be positive given the phenomenal growth of popularity for K-pop idols in recent years.
Ahn Suk Joon, CJ E&M Music Division President said: “We hope to see KCON 2016 Abu Dhabi serve as a catalyst to spread Korean culture in the Middle East, where the whole world is paying close attention these days for its vast business opportunities.”
