China is the leading country in the toy industry accounting for almost 75% of global toy production, while Guangdong province produces around 70% of toys in the domestic market and 50% of all toys made throughout the world. (Source: Guangdong Toy Association) Positioned to benefit from this geographic advantage, the 28th edition of Toy & Hobby China and the 7th edition of Baby & Stroller China are to be held at Guangzhou Poly World Trade Center Expo from 8 – 10 April. Ms Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, explained: “Guangzhou is the key province in the China toy industry, both in terms of production and the retail market. As a result, not only do the two fairs welcome brand-name exhibitors, they also attract over 40,000 quality buyers.”
In order to assist buyers from around the world to participate in the fairs, Messe Frankfurt will provide visitors with a range of services including travel assistance as well as a business matching programme. Qualified industry buyers can pre-register before the fair to enjoy these special offers. Ms Wen continued: “Given the experience and feedback of the previous shows, a business matching service is available in 2016 which helps visitors by arranging meetings with their preferred exhibitors prior to the show. This service will enhance the sourcing process and result in more business opportunities.”
International Zone caters to growing overseas demand
Serving as a stepping stone for entering the huge China market, the fairs not only welcome domestic trade visitors but also worldwide participants. To cater to the growing demand from overseas exhibitors to enter the Chinese market, the toy and baby product fairs will feature an International Zone for the first time to accommodate overseas suppliers. Some of the brands from around the globe that have confirmed their participation and will be presenting a wide range of products at the fairs include Bangwool Land Co., Daesungtoys Co Ltd, Ed Co Ltd, Liwoo and World Toy from Korea showcasing bubble toys, educational blocks, strollers, tricycles, 3D blocks as well as learning toys, respectively. While the leading Taiwan manufacturer, Taken Fun and Art will be in the fair demonstrating their H-shaped blocks, Hong Kong-based companies Drains, Kidzpiration and Supreme Plastic will also promote their electronic products, 3D puzzle play mats and STEPHY brand product collections, respectively.
The US based company GreenLight Collectibles, which has acquired licences from the world’s premier automotive and entertainment companies, will demonstrate their authentic die-cast vehicle replicas, scale figures and other toy car-related products. As a company that attaches great importance to design and quality, Viking Toys AB from Sweden will also be at the fair to display their brain training and educational toys.
Domestic exhibitors covering diverse product categories
While a number of new international brands are participating this year, the fairs also gather around 1,000 leading domestic exhibitors including Babyland, Classic International, Qunxing Toys, VIGA and Rastar Group, Toy & Hobby China product categories range from animation licensing & licensed products, pre-school amusement play-sets, baby toys, girls toys, and wooden and paper toys to dolls, plush and soft stuffed toys, electronic and electrical toys, remote control toys, pre-school learning systems, pre-school items and equipment, brain-training and educational toys, construction sets and blocks, inflatable toys, hobby models and other accessories. While product groups of Baby & Stroller China include powered ride-ons, baby strollers, car safety seats, dining chairs, scooters, tricycles, baby bathtubs and toilet trainers.
