Achieved a record scale again
Asia’s leading exhibition & conference for advanced automotive technologies, AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2013 concluded in a huge success. Gathering 363 exhibitors from 13 countries/regions and 19,820 visitors (increase by 20% from the previous show), it achieved a record scale five years in a row since its launch in 2009. Visitor Count
“Automotive IT Expo” joining this time, AUTOMOTIVE WORLD now consists of 4 specialised exhibitions, each covering crucial field for automotive development of the day - “Automotive Electronics”, “EV & HEV”, “Weight Reduction” and ”Automotive IT”. Becoming larger and more extensive, the show provided solutions to various technical challenges faced by automotive engineers.
Supported and attended by the whole automotive industry
AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2013 kicked off with the grand Opening Ribbon-cutting Ceremony attended by top executives of leading OEM & Tier 1 companies in Japan and abroad. List of Ribbon-cutting Dignitaries
AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2013 was broadly supported and attended by the whole automotive industry, as you can see in the members of Advisory Committee, which consists of top managements from TOYOTA, NISSAN, HONDA, MAZDA, MITSUBISHI, GM JAPAN, KEIHIN, DENSO, HITACHI AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS, BOSCH, RENESAS ELECTRONICS and INFINEON. In addition, AUTOMOTIVE WORLD welcomed SAE International as Supporting Organization in 2011, with great determination to further establish its position as the best exhibition for advanced automotive technologies not only in Japan & Asia but also in the global automotive industry. In fact, AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2013 was a truly international exhibition, gathering professionals not only from Japanese & Asian companies but also from many US and European companies.
Cutting-edge technologies were showcased and addressed here
<> Exhibition – Product/Technology showcase with Asia’s largest scale
The show floor of AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2013 was always crowded with professionals/engineers conducting technical consultations and business meetings. The followings are the highlights of each exhibition.
CAR-ELE JAPAN – 5th Int’l Automotive Electronics Technology Expo
CAR-ELE JAPAN has grown to Asia’s largest event for Automotive Electronics, where key products/technologies such as components, materials, software, testing and manufacturing equipment are showcased. One of the main features this year was “Semiconductor, Electronics Components & Devices Zone”, where almost all the major semiconductor manufacturers exhibited. (AMS, FREESCALE, INFINEON, INTERSIL, LINEAR TECHNOLOGY, RENESAS ELECTRONICS, ROHM, STMICROELECTRONICS, and so on) While the semiconductor industry faces a severe market condition, demands for in-vehicle semiconductors are ever growing. To expand business in the growing market, many companies have chosen CAR-ELE JAPAN as an annual business platform to meet automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers.
Now in its fifth year, CAR-ELE JAPAN has established its position in the industry, as a visitor said; “CAR-ELE JAPAN is a must-attend event, regardless of the market condition.”
In fact, about 90% of the exhibit space for the 2014 show has already been reserved.

EV JAPAN – 4th EV & HEV Drive System Technology Expo
EV JAPAN is Asia’s largest exhibition for EV & HEV technologies, such as batteries, motors, chargers, inverters, and so on. While the EV market is showing sign of expansion, there are many challenges to be solved before its full-scale popularization, such as extension of the drive range and cost reduction. EV JAPAN offers solutions to those challenges and generates innovation, therefore driving the EV industry.
Major companies of each category exhibited at 4th EV JAPAN, such as MEIDENSHA, YASUKAWA ELECTRIC, FUJI ELECTRIC, NICHICON, SIM-DRIVE, QUALCOMM, SYOSUNG, YAZAKI (Motors/Inverters/Chargers), MITSUI HIGH-TECH, KURODA PRECISION INDUSTRIES, SHIN-ETSU CHEMICAL (Components/Materials for Motors), NITTOKU ENGINEERING, ODAWARA ENGINEERING, BESTEC, TAGA MANUFACTURING (Manufacturing Equipment for Motors), and many others. In addition, Tier 1 companies such as BOSCH, MAGNA INTERNATIONAL and DANA HOLDINGS also exhibited here, showing their focus on the EV/HEV market.
Also, at “Electric Vehicle Exhibit Area” inside EV JAPAN, various kinds of electric vehicles were showcased – from new models by leading companies such as MITSUBISHI, MAZDA, and SIM-DRIVE to EV bus developed in cooperation with a local government, microcompact EV intended for nursing care, and many others. The area showed various possibilities of EVs in the near future. >> Website of EV JAPAN – 5th EV & HEV Drive System Technology Expo
3rd Automotive Weight Reduction Expo
“Weight reduction” has become one of the most important challenges for the automotive industry, as the key solution to achieve more eco-friendly vehicles which helps improve the fuel efficiency or extend the drive range of EV. Automotive Weight Reduction Expo has been welcomed by the industry as the one-stop venue to look for weight reduction technologies such as materials, molding/processing, components/modules, etc.
This year, one of the most prominent products was “3D Printer” showcased by several companies. Now that resin is replacing iron as material for automotive components, 3D printer enables easier and more rapid prototyping. Many more new technologies and advanced materials which enable weight reduction while maintaining strength were showcased here. >> Website of 4th Automotive Weight Reduction Expo
1st Automotive IT Expo [NEW]
Along with the rapid popularization of connected vehicles equipped with constant internet access, the IT industry and the automotive industry are becoming more and more closely connected. Aiming to become a bridge between those huge markets, the launch of Automotive IT Expo was announced in last September. Though it was pretty close to the show dates, a large number of exhibiting inquiries rushed in to the Show Management, indicating the show’s huge potential.
The largest attention getter was “Cloud RoboCar” exhibited by Microsoft Japan, which connected the Prius PHV with iPad, enabling users to operate and drive the car by remote control. It and other exhibits at Automotive IT Expo visualized the near future where every vehicle is closely linked to the internet, enabling users to enjoy safer and more comfortable drive.
