Intersec 2013, the largest and most comprehensive exhibition for security, safety, and fire protection in the Middle East and North Africa, took place in Dubai during January 15-17, 2013. With the mission to assist Taiwan security and fire protection product manufacturers in expanding new markets, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) hosted a Taiwan pavilion with the support of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs' Bureau of Foreign Trade. A total of 23 companies joined the Taiwan pavilion, including Aver, Zero One Technology Co., and Hunt Electronic Co., Ltd.

Intersec 2013 highlighted four categories, Commercial & Information Security, Fire & Rescue, Homeland Security & Policing, and Safety & Health. The event featured high tech products, top security monitoring technologies, and state-of-the-art safety and fire control solutions. Eight countries, including Taiwan, Korea, China, and the USA, exhibited in the form of national pavilions.

Products from Taiwan exhibitors such as CCTV, wireless home-use anti-theft systems, medical auxiliary systems, infrared surveillance systems, and fingerprint recognition electronic locks caught the attention of many visitors. A frequent Taiwan Excellence Award winner, Aver, exhibited its outdoor gun-shape camera which functions even under -40 degrees centigrade. The cameras garnered much attention since they can be used for security control of large freezers and related frozen environments.

The show organizer Messe Frankfurt pointed out that countries in the Middle East, the Bay area in particular, are interested in domestic modernization with the support of oil and gas incomes. Their governments are devoted to major infrastructures such as airports, subway systems, and building equipment renewals, which are showing a preference for the latest monitoring systems and technology that meet international standards. The market is expected to maintain an annual two digit growth.
