Dubai, 17 November, 2012: Environment and Energy Park (Enpark), has today announced an agreement with Solar Middle East exhibition and conference to boost the growth of the Solar and Photovoltaic (PV) sectors in one of the most sunlight abundant regions in the world.

Located in Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, and designed to facilitate the growth of energy environment businesses in the Middle East, Enpark will come onboard the inaugural edition of Solar Middle East as a Strategic Partner.

Solar Middle East, which takes place from 17-19 February, 2013 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is set to become the largest gathering of solar technology suppliers ever seen in the region.

The three-day event, co-located with Middle East Electricity exhibition, is expected to attract more than 150 suppliers of solar products from around the world who are looking to tap into the lucrative MENA market.

“As an organisation dedicated to the advancement of environmentally friendly and energy efficient business solutions, Enpark constantly endeavours to facilitate industry collaboration and identify new sustainable business opportunities,” said Saeed Ghubash, Director of Enpark, a Tecom Investments member.

“Our Strategic Partnership with Solar Middle East will serve as an excellent platform for Enpark and its members to engage, network and learn from regional and international solution and technology providers across the solar and photovoltaic sectors.”

Launched on 5 June 2007 to coincide with World Environment Day, Enpark is the first free zone dedicated to the energy and sustainability industries in the Middle East, offering an effective business enabling platform for organisations across the industry such as renewable energy, conventional energy, green buildings, and waste management sectors.

The destination provides a unique environment that supports companies to identify, consolidate and capitalise on opportunities in the domestic and regional markets. Today, more than 40 companies, from clean-tech start-ups to large energy multinationals, operate under Enpark’s licenses.

The inaugural edition of Solar Middle East meanwhile reflects a strong regional focus on development of solar power facilities, with at least ten major projects worth a combined US$6.8 billion already under way in the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco.

Anita Mathews, Exhibition Director of Solar Middle East said: “Enpark is actively involved in the promotion of solar and PV businesses in the MENA region and we are delighted to enter into a prosperous partnership that will enhance opportunities for the solar industry across the region.”

“The concern to build a green environment while reducing carbon emissions has driven countries across the globe to renewable energy sources, and for the MENA region, the most abundant renewable source is sunlight. With Enpark’s support, Solar Middle East can look forward to being a leading force in driving the sustainable energy revolution in the region.”

Solar Middle East is officially supported by solar industry partner associations, the Saudi Arabia Solar Industries Association (SASIA), and the Emirates Solar Industry Association (ESIA), along with the UAE Society of Engineers.

Organised by Informa Exhibitions, the three-day event will also feature a dedicated industry conference, addressing key challenges that the Middle East region faces regarding harnessing the infinite resource that the sun provides, and integrating it into regional power grids.
