Three-day event highlights latest innovations, products and services from world’s leading traffic and transport infrastructure suppliers

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 18 November 2012: Gulf Traffic, the Middle East’s dedicated event for roads, public transports and parking sectors opens in Abu Dhabi tomorrow (19 November) bringing together more than 100 exhibitors highlighting the latest innovations, products and services in traffic and transport infrastructure.

The three day event at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre runs until 21 November, and will place a spotlight on several key launches by major local and international organisations.

Among them include the UAE-based ITS Emirates, a technology provider of intelligent transportation systems, speed enforcement and laser solutions which will launch Vsense, a vehicle detector designed to provide solutions for all traffic controller systems.

Qatar based research and development centre, Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC), will showcase Masarak, a portfolio of intelligent transportation and logistics services which help manage fleets, increase road safety and reduce congestion while providing traveller information, navigation services, and child safety solutions in Qatar.

Tattile, the renowned Italian manufacturer of automatic number plate recognition cameras is one of the notable exhibitors showcasing the latest product range comprising free flow camera, tolling camera and red light enforcement camera, designed to cover all international transportation systems (ITS) needs.

American manufacturer Smart Microwave Sensors will launch a radar based sensor capable of tracking vehicles in multiple lanes determining accurate individual vehicle speed while at the same time measuring traffic data and triggering alarms used for pre-defined events.

Richard Pavitt, Exhibition Director for Gulf Traffic, said: “Taking place every two years in Abu Dhabi, Gulf Traffic attracts more than 3,000 transport industry professionals and government agencies from across the Middle East who can establish partnerships with global manufacturers and suppliers involved in ITS and traffic management to devise traffic control solutions, minimise global warming and improve the overall safety of roads.”

Now in its seventh edition, Gulf Traffic also features the two-day Gulf Traffic Conference, which will see a panel of experts from transport and government agencies addressing key issues on traffic control, road safety and congestion management.

Among the headline speakers on the opening day is Britta Lang, Principal Road Safety Scientist at the Transport Research Laboratory UAE, who will speak about the use of driving simulators for road safety research and training purposes, outlining how they can usefully contribute to the road safety agenda, including the investigation and understanding of driver behaviour.

Joining Lang will be Rita Cuypers, Director of Partnerships, FIA Foundation, who will outline the FIA Foundation’s recently launched advocacy campaign to have sustainable transport as one of the Millennium Development Goals post 2015.

The conference concludes on Tuesday 20 November with a presentation by Engineer Majed Al Khathiri, Head of Traffic Services Section, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, who will showcase the successful results of deploying ITS and SCADA systems in the Salam Tunnel in Abu Dhabi.

The Gulf Traffic Exhibition and Conference is supported by Abu Dhabi Police, Saeed, the Law Respect Culture Bureau and ITS Arab, and is endorsed by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.
